Ross Gordon is the founder of Assist IQ and the operator behind its AI operations stack. He spent 19 years in oil and gas operations developing systems thinking and process discipline, then applied both to ScottishWill's controlled operating system. He founded Assist IQ to bring the same practical approach to owner-led businesses across Scotland and the UK.

The operator story.
Ross did not get into AI by reading about it. He got into it by building with it, and by running the results in production.
In oil and gas, 19 years of operations means learning to think about what breaks, what cannot break, and how to build systems that keep running when nobody is watching. It means ISO 9001 discipline. It means exception handling. It means designing for the edge case, not just the happy path. Those habits turn out to matter more in AI operations than technical fluency does.
The first real test was ScottishWill. Ross built an online Scottish will-writing service and automated the operational layer around a controlled legal document. Guided intake gathers what is needed, deterministic logic produces the document, and automations move the case through checks and fulfilment. No LLM touches the legal document. Human judgment and review remain in place. The result lets one person carry administration that would otherwise need four.
That is the proof of concept Assist IQ is built on. It is not a demo environment. It is a real business with real customers, running on the method.
The next tests moved into different operating environments. HALO Intervention Services took paper-based well-intervention processes into electronic, compliance-grade operations, with the same principles shaping its ISO 9001 and management system. PCMG Property automated expense handling and compliance reminders across a property portfolio. The systems differ, but the operating discipline is the same.
The pattern across all three builds is the same: connect AI to the way the business actually works, give it a real scope and real context, build in the right human-review gates, and measure whether it is doing useful work. That is what Ross means by an AI employee. That is what Assist IQ builds.

What Ross does at Assist IQ.
Ross designs and oversees every AI employee engagement at Assist IQ. He runs the initial discovery, sets the scope of each build, reviews the output of the build and delivery fleet, and manages the ongoing run phase for each client. He is also the only person at Assist IQ who sends communications to clients and prospects. The build and delivery layer (the Jarvis fleet) researches, drafts, builds and manages; Ross approves and sends.
He works across the full value ladder: the productised managed operations service for local businesses, the bespoke Business Operating System for businesses with complex knowledge and operational needs, and network-level engagements in oil and gas and property where deep domain experience is part of the offer.
