Case study - HALO: moving a paper system into modern operations

HALO Intervention Services moved established paper-based well-intervention processes into electronic workflows designed around efficiency, traceability and proper completion. Assist IQ used automation and augmentation principles throughout the operation, including the ISO 9001 and management system, so compliance was part of the workflow rather than a separate administrative layer.

01

The operating problem.

Paper can be familiar and still create risk. Information is copied between forms, completion depends on individual memory, and evidence is harder to retrieve when an audit or operational decision requires it. In well intervention, the answer cannot be a loose collection of clever automations. The process has to remain controlled and understandable.

The brief was to modernise the way work is completed while retaining the discipline expected in a compliance-heavy industry.

02

The system built.

Processes were redesigned for electronic completion with AI automation and augmentation used where they reduce manual hours or help work get completed properly. The same operating principles shaped the full ISO 9001 and management system.

Design principleOperational purpose
Electronic captureReduce repeated paper handling and make records easier to retrieve
Defined workflowMake the next required action visible
Automation in the processRemove repetitive movement without removing accountability
Traceable completionPreserve the evidence needed for management and compliance
Human judgmentKeep technical and safety-critical decisions with responsible people

03

What the case proves.

The approved proof is the scope and operating model: HALO's ISO 9001 and management system were generated on these automation principles. Compliance-grade operations can be designed with automation baked in from the start.

We do not publish a percentage reduction in hours, an audit result or a financial return because none was supplied for public use. A testimonial will only appear here if HALO approves one.

04

Where the approach applies.

Any business with controlled processes, evidence requirements and repeated hand-offs can use the same design logic. The specific controls change by sector. The principle does not: automate movement and consistency, preserve ownership and judgment.
